Automotive
Component Remanufacturing Ltd
offer an engine test cell service
for the
tuning
and set up of a non standard, tuned
or performance engine.
The test cell consists of a modified G4 type
hydraulic dynamometer
coupled to a 16
channel Dataq computerised control and
monitoring system. This
is combined with
a sun SMP 4000 analyser, to allow very close
control
and monitoring of engine parameters
throughout the entire test.
Data logging of user configurable parameters
enables the test to
be recorded in both
Microsoft Excel and graphical format for easy
reference.

Typically these engines either are engines upgraded from carburettors
and distributors
or engines modified from their original specification. More recent
engines taken from modern
cars with their complex and integrated
systems can be simplified for use in other applications.
*
Mount engine to dynamometer, where necessary manufacture mounts
and brackets.
* Fit engine sensors, wiring loon and programmable
engine management system
such as omex 500 or 700 series fuel
and ignition EMSs.
*
Run engine at every load and RPM to map optimum fuelling and
ignition at each point.
Set up secondary functions such as shift
lamp, fuel pump control warm up maps etc.
* Provide full data log of entire
test, power and torque curves copy of EMS calibration
and where
required soft ware, cables for user access to the EMS.

Many race and performance engines still use
carburettors and distributors as
do historic
and classics. A typical test session will enable
fuelling and ignition
to be optimized for
maximum performance typical test as follows:
* Mount engine to dynamometer, where
necessary manufacture mounts and brackets.
* Run engine to calibrate fuelling and generate
optimum ignition curve. Distributors
can be
recurved to suit engine if required.
* Set up secondary functions such as idle
mixture etc.
Diesel and LPG engines are also covered.
For popular engines such as Rover V8s
we
offer package deals. Please contact us for more
details or to discuss your
project. The engine
test service is backed up with a modern
machine shop and
engine build facility.
